Sunset like painting

This series follows a shot from the second group "Scatti come dipinti". The image "Tramonto d'inverno" has become the head of this new experimentation called "Tramonti come dipinti".
This selection is also based on photographic shots but only takes sunsets on the water.
These solutions have not undergone any manipulation or special effectsi; but as in the second series, they were interpreted in color management and optimization.
Here the style of the works maintains a strong coherence in the chromatic interpretation. In this way, it externalizes a very characteristic and personal point of view.

A more homogeneous series

I continue the search with a more considered series "Sunsets as paintings" that wants instead to stand out for a strong homogeneity in the visual aspect. All images are based on shots taken in similar environmental circumstances: they are all based on sunsets over watercourses.

The series is inspired by the work "Winter Sunset" that weaves a twilight between Canonica and Vaprio. Its technical characteristics allowed a productive process that I could control and therefore repeat. In fact, however, it was not easily replicated, I had not reckoned with the environmental conditions, never the same behind every shot.

I realized this and I had a lot of trouble finding the photographic bases similar to the reference shot. I had to surrender to the inevitability of photography, I couldn’t change what the relfex was shooting; I couldn’t force it to capture an image according to my tastes. I realized that compared to a painter who starts from a sheet of paper or a blank canvas, free from any conditioning, I had no white paper, the base was already established by the shot.

For this reason, while photographing similar situations such as points of view and shooting technical settings, not all images had the magic to express themselves as a painting. However, trying to be as consistent as possible with the foreman, I proceeded in the work exploiting rivers, lakes and sea. Their contours of trees, mountains and urban settlements, mirrored in the river, reveal artistic symmetries.
